Who is Mike T Nelson and Why Should You Trust Your Body to Him?

I am currently a PhD Candidate at the University of Minnesota in Kinesiology (Exercise Science).

I go to exercise physiology conferences for fun.   Litterally I do and love it.

I kiteboard as much as I can also.  Think of kiteboarding as riding a wakeboard looking thing with 4 razor sharp lines about 100 feet long each attached to an upside down parachute looking thing.   It is a blast!  You need to try it, but take a lesson.  If you end of being a kiteboard bum, drop me a thank you note here.

I am currently writing up several studies for publication including  Metabolic Flexibility and the Effects of Energy Drinks.    Translation, I got to feed college kids Monster Energy Drink and measure a bunch of stuff in the lab and answer the key questions "Do those darn things even work?"

I am currently a teacher at Globe University and I've been a Teaching Assistant for Exercise Physiology and Human Physiology at the University of Minnesota.  Go Gophers!

College, the Early Years
In 1992 I started a 7.5 year journey in college full time.  After much blood, sweat, tears and a crap ton of money, I graduated with a MS in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and a BA in Natural Science from St. Scholastica with a minor in Chemistry.

At Michigan Tech, my thesis was on computer generated model of monkeys being zapped with high frequency microwaves.   No real monkeys were hurt now, it was just computer modeling.  The military was making a ray gun as non-lethal defense.  It was so classified that I was not told it was classified.

After that I swore I was never going back to college again.

That lasted 1.5 years and I started taking classes part time, did a stint in the PhD program for Biodmedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota.  I had only 2 classes left to finish the  classwork portion before I decided I wanted to dedicate the rest of my life to exercise and athletic performance.  Fast forward to today where I am finishing my PhD in Exercise Physiology as stated above.

A Tour of the Extreme Human Performance Center

If it is windy, I can hopefully be found out on the lake kiteboarding too.

Are you going to trust your body to someone that just took a weekend or take home certification?

The human body is extremely complex, and you only have 1 body so don't trust it to just anyone.
